JOY BATHIE     is a largely self-taught artist who works from her home studio in The Hills district of Sydney, Australia.

She has always been involved with arts and crafts; for many years exhibiting and selling her oil paintings before venturing into pottery, stained glass, metalwork, and various fibre crafts including hand and machine embroidery. However, in more recent years her focus has been on the paper arts; handmade books and journals, artists books, scrapbooks and altered books. She has created and sold photograph and memory albums, and journals, for several years, including many commissioned works in Australia, as well as being represented in several countries around the world.

Joy has had her altered books and artists journals featured in numerous magazines and books, both in Australia and the United States, and is a member of Primrose Paperworks, which is an artists co-operative specialising in paper-oriented arts.

She is now conducting workshops to teach others the joy of altering books, and sees this as a natural progression in her artistic adventures.
